Project Lead – Base Campaigns

Project Management and Events Committee

The Base Campaigns Project Lead will coordinate base campaigns with a team of volunteers. In this role, you will dispatch tasks and track progress, and provide feedback and support to a dynamic team of youth volunteers working remotely from all around the world. You will receive guidance from the Co-Chairs of the Project Management and Events committee and will report progress directly to them. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in helping raise awareness and mainstream issues of human trafficking and modern slavery for many communities around the world and helping increase YASM’s visibility and ability to engage youth in our mission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure YASM has campaign content for all relevant international days
  • Assigning tasks to campaign team members and support their roles
  • Develop campaign activities schedule
  • Assess the progress of campaigns
  • Tracking progress and reporting to Co-Chairs
  • Organize and facilitate team meetings
  • Navigate challenges team members face
  • Provide feedback on content produced for the campaigns
  • Provide feedback for Co-Chair volunteer assessment and feedback
  • Liaise and stay connected with other project leads from different committees

Skills Needed

  • Communication skills; interpersonal, professional, and intercultural communication
  • Digital skills — familiarity with or interest and willingness to learn different digital platforms such as social media, using Zoom and other digital platforms for meeting, online collaborative platforms such as Slack / WhatsApp
  • Team player — People driven, cooperative, think for community; spirit of collaboration and collective interests)
  • Coordination (team assignments / deliverables submitted on time / ensure team are updating task tracker / reaching out and supporting disengaged / keeping flow)

Evaluation

The first three months of the volunteer experience will be an orientation period with an evaluation upon completion of the orientation period. All volunteers will have an opportunity for check-ins every 60 days with formal evaluations from the committee Co-Chairs every six months about their work and performance to help guide them in their professional development.

Training and Supervision

  • Attends general volunteer orientation
  • Participates in capacity building and educational workshops throughout their time as a volunteer
  • Training and supervision conducted by the Co-Chairs of the  Project Management and Events committee

Time Commitment

  • 15-20 hours per week
  • Flexible hours that are result oriented; occasionally more hours (temporarily) as needs arise
  • Activities and meetings will be set collaboratively to fit volunteers’ schedules
  • Commitment includes time required to communicate with Co-Chairs and Board of Directors

The Youth Against Slavery Movement is a youth-led, youth-centered movement working to empower and engage youth as key influencers of the anti human trafficking and contemporary forms of slavery movement.
